Washington Park District Administration Offices and Recreation FacilityThe Park District moved its Administrative Offices to the old Washington Middle School in the fall of 2005. The facility at 105 South Spruce was an ideal home for the Washington Park District as it featured a number of classrooms and other program areas not to mention a historic gym with a stage. Burnidge Cassell and Associates (BCA) was hired to conduct a facility master plan to determine the best reuse, renovation and improvements to accommodate the needs of the park district. As part of the process, a focus group of several local residents was formed to give their ideas and thoughts for increased programming and reuse of the facility. Similar sessions were held with staff and the board. The new Recreation Facility features a renovated gymnasium, dance studio, conference room and administrative offices. The facility hosts a variety of programs in the class rooms and other activity areas including Cay’s Tumbling and Dance, REACH Before and After School Program, Wee Play Early Childhood Programs, Summer Day Camp Adventurers, Little Hoopers Basketball and Camp Connections and much more. |
